| Breastfeeding is the healthiest option for babies and mothers
Derbyshire Breastmates support local mothers in Derbyshire to breastfeed their children and sustain that choice. Breastfeeding has a direct impact on enhancing the health and wellbeing of all children, enabling them to reach their full potential.
There are now 26 active volunteers registered with Derbyshire County PCT. The impact of the mum-to-mum support offered was highlighted in High Peak & Dales public health report as a significant factor in improving breastfeeding rates.
Breastmates are available on the following helpline numbers: Buxton, Peak Dale & Hope Valley Tel: 07768 540 951 New Mills, Whaley Bridge & Chapel-en-le-Frith Tel: 07917 552 214 Matlock & Bakewell Tel: 07919 013 181
They answer calls within 24 hours and link with local midwives and health visitors offering 1-1 support.
Breastmates also sell low-cost (not for profit) jazzy maternity bras (includes leopard skin & spots!) to sell at cost and can lend breast pumps in exceptional circumstances.
